主權在民

介紹一個非常棒的網站，裏頭用 flashcards 的方式，用精美的圖片來幫助記憶，裏頭分為基礎、簡單、中等、困難四個等級。

大家可以自行去瀏覽，而在這裡，我想以每篇五張圖片，五個字的方式來做介紹。

(2) taper (n) 細長蠟燭

oneiric (M-W)

(adj.) of or having to do with dreams 夢的

例句：The image had oneiric elements.

主權：在 GRE 版之前的每日一字也討論過此字哦。

taper (M-W)

(n.) a candle, especially a thin one 細長的蠟燭

例句：The tapers lit up the altar.

主權：這個字可以當名詞、形容詞、動詞，重點是 "細"，而且是那種 "從粗慢慢變尖的細"。altar (n) 祭壇。

fugacious (M-W)

(adj.) short-lived; fleeting 短暫的

例句：A flash of lightning is a fugacious event.

主權：同義字要一起記 = fleeting = evanescent。像閃電就是短暫的。

fuliginous (M-W)

(adj.) sooty or smoky 煤煙的；黑煙的

例句：The fuliginous air was hard to breathe.

主權：要記同義字 = sooty。soot (n) 煤煙。石化等重工業的大煙囪排放廢氣就是 fuliginous = sooty = smoky。這個字比較難，多看文章也許會看到。

ossuary (M-W)

(n.) a receptacle or place for the bones of the dead 藏骨罐；藏骨堂

例句：The chapel was an ossuary, built from the bones of monks.

主權：這個字相當可怕，看圖就知道了。os- 是骨頭的字根，-ary 是地點的字尾，這個字請用字根字首去記。receptacle (n) 容器。親人過世後一年要去撿骨，裝骨頭的那個罈子就叫 ossuary。
